THE CONSULATE

EMBER + ARES

An immortal warrior & the necromancer who burned her house down. Five missing swords. Three underworld dynasties at odds with the mundane world. One big heist.

Ember Verona’s immortal life is a mess. Her best friend just got out of prison and like the rest of their sistren, wants nothing to do with her. The swords that gave the guardians of Orphium their parapsych powers have been missing for hundreds of years.

Nothing seems able to change that, or to put the Orphium Maere back together again. Until Ares Necroline, the leader of Orphium’s necromancers, tips Ember off to the swords’ location. They are up for auction at the National Gallery’s annual Gala. Can Ember get the swords, and her sistren, back before tipping off the Authority?

Ember must choose. Work with the man who burned her house to the ground and ruined her life—or do this on her own and risk falling into useless obscurity.

THE ANGEL

Series Info

  • The World of the Orphium Maere is an adult fantasy series. It it is not marketed or recommended for readers under 18.

  • These are my spiciest novels yet, with 3-5 explicit scenes per book. Parts and actions are described in more detail and there may be some racier "locations" and act than you are used to with my Tapestry series.

These books are in no way "erotica," but they are higher heat than what I write elsewhere. Expect lots and lots of plot still.

  • THE CONSULATE:

    • Profanity

    • Brief descriptions of child abuse/neglect.

    • Reference to a house fire and severe injury to one of the Maere. This is never explicitly described, but is mentioned several times.

    • One scene where it is mentioned that a teenager is being beaten. This is not described in detail.

    • Descriptions of loneliness, grief and anxiety

    • One reference to what might be read as historical fatphobia. This concept does not exist the same way in this world's worldbuilding, but a difference in size is noted as having been the cause of trauma. Fat folks may recognize this as an an analogue to the fatphobia they experience in real life.

  • Coming soon!

  • Is this a series?

Yes, it is a series of interconnected standalones.

    Are they REALLY standalones?

Yes. My recommendation would be that you read them in order if you’re enjoying them because the books do follow a linear timeline, BUT there is no overarching “big bad” the characters have to face, no super-connected story that has to be seen through to the end.

There are, however, antagonists that appear repeatedly throughout the series… each appearance is unique, but it’s often contextualized further by previous appearances. That being said, if you’re not enjoying one of the books, put it down and wait for another couple!

    What’re the vibes like?

Orphium and the Three Cities are both exactly like our world and nothing like it. These are modern fantasy books with a decidedly paranormal feel. I wrote them specifically to feel like the John Wick series had a throuple with Ocean’s Eight and The Old Guard, mix in a little Wonder Woman, Claymore, Batman, Underworld (the films), The Fifth Element, Bladerunner and a whole lotta gothic architecture and you’ve got the vibes… I’m calling this feeling “NEON GOTHIC” and you can see my Pinterest boards here.

Is this the same universe as The Tapestry (The Immortal Orders, etc)?

Nope! The Tapestry series all run on a shared history, a certain kind of magic that feels like “fantasy magic” (I write soft magic systems!). The world of the Orphium Maere has a magic system based on more “paranormal” types of aspects, mixed with a bit of mythology! These are definitely NOT in the same universe as one another.
